The Senior Concert Band is conducted by David Price (dprice@prn.bc.ca). They rehearse in the day at the high school in the first semester.
Night band for Senior Concert Band is on Tuesdays from 6:45-8:30pm. David Price conducts this as well as his assistant conductor, Rie Sasaki (rsasaki@prn.bc.ca).
Every year the Senior Band goes to fun places like Cuba, New York, Niagara Falls, Toronto, Edmonton, Whistler and more. New opportunities like Pit Band for Musical Theatre and Jazz Band open up in the High School, as well as new opportunities for travel and competitions.
In addition to playing music, the Senior Band has FUN. Here is the big 2022 Nerf War to settle the argument once and for all whether concert band or jazz band is better!
Several of our Senior Band members have gone on to music school after Senior Band!
Senior Band also gives students a chance to develop many marketable real world skills such as leadership, communication, mentorship, teamwork, collaboration and public speaking through its mentorship partnership with the beginner band. Several events throughout the year give the Seniors a chance to share their love of music with younger students in a mutually beneficial relationship:
Rhythm Carnival:
Squeak and Squawk:
Beginner Band Retreat:
